What  I like and why

I'm not a professional critic and I don't intend to pretend otherwise. These pages contain my observations and reflections on some of the cultural output that has given me pleasure and inspiration in varying degrees over the years. These are in no way "Best Of" or "Top Ten" lists, and I make no recommendation other than you might find them interesting and amusing in the way I did, or indeed in some other way. What cannot be denied is that these works have greatly influenced my writing in their varied ways: my novels, of course, but also my fledgling attempts to produce decent poems and scripts, and I'm becoming something of a short story writer too.
